Quantitative Data Analysis [11 remaining]
8-10 am30 people limitHost: Lendel NarineThis session will introduce participants to quantitative analysis techniques for evaluation data. At the end, participants will be able to (a) code data from close-ended questionnaires, (b) clean data in SPSS, and (c) conduct descriptive analysis, crosstabulations, and t-tests in SPSS. This is a guided learning session, and participants will work through examples using a (provided) evaluation plan, logic model, and questionnaire. All participants must have their own laptops to complete this session. Participants are asked to download and install SPSS on their laptops prior to the session.

Harm Reduction Naloxone Training for Extension Faculty [37 remaining]
8-10 am50 people limitHost: Gabriela Murza.Faculty from the HEART Initiative will discuss the new landscape of opioids and other substances that have become increasingly prevalent during COVID. Topics to be addressed include the rise of synthetic opioids (fentanyl) in the drug supply, community-level evidence-based harm reduction strategies, the importance of stigma reduction for treatment access, and state opioid settlement updates. Participants will learn how to recognize signs of an overdose, how to administer Naloxone to help reverse a potential overdose, and stigma reduction strategies in personal and professional interactions. Participants will receive a Naloxone kit at the end of the workshop.
Helping Clients Navigate Wildlife Issues [21 remaining]
9-10:30 amHost: Jessica Tegt30 people limitThis workshop is for any Extension professional who receives requests for wildlife conflict information or mitigation. We will discuss the most common wildlife issues and different wildlife encounters that can occur in Utah and cover both options and legalities of removal. This training will help participants lead clients in the right direction for help by breaking down each wildlife agency and what their role is in wildlife management. This includes Extension, US Fish and Wildlife Service, USDA Wildlife Services, Utah DWR, Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators (even the role of rehab centers and zoos). The workshop will include interactive scenarios designed to help participants navigate available resources and lead clientele on the right path to solving their wildlife issues.
Nutrition Education: Crops in the Classroom [18 remaining]
10 am - noonHost: Denise Stewardson30 people limitAll Extension faculty and anyone responsible for programming who share nutrition resources with youth are invited to join Utah Agriculture in the Classroom for a nutrition-based agricultural literacy workshop. Attendees will actively participate in modeling nutrition education resources created for Utah Core Standards in grades 3-5 health education using Utah’s specialty crops. Note that these resources can easily be adapted for other grade levels and nonformal instruction. Each participant will receive a “Utah Crops in a Box” resource kit containing Utah AITC lessons and companion resources. Resources for this workshop are provided by a USU Extension Grant and Utah Department of Agriculture & Food’s Specialty Crop Block Grant from USDA.

Attendees are welcome to eat their meals during the remainder of the workshop.The USU Extension – Utah Pests team will provide a workshop for horticulture, agriculture, and natural resource staff and faculty. This will cover the latest topics in entomology, plant pathology, and integrated pest management within Utah. This training will help participants (especially new hires) better understand these pest management concepts and how they can be applied and taught to clientele within their counties. The training will additionally cover all the new resources available through the USU Extension – Utah Pests program.

At the end, participants will be able to (a) clean and de-identify data in Word, (b) codebook creation, and (c) coding and organization of data in Word/Excel. This is a guided learning session, and participants will work through examples using a (provided) evaluation plan, logic model, and interview guide. All participants must have their own laptops to complete this session.

At the end of the session, participants will (a) have an outline of their own impact statement for a chosen program, (b) understand the value of impact statements and sharing our successes with stakeholders, and (c) understand how to promote and publish those impacts via Outcomes & Impacts Quarterly.
